• Bill is married to Jennifer Butler. They have two sons, Jackson and Cooper.
• Bill has eight brothers and sisters.
• Bill has two sons from his previous marriage to Margaret Kelley, Homer and Luke.
• Bill is a big baseball fan. He owns the minor league team, the Riverdogs, based in Charleston, South Carolina.
• Bill is co-owner of the St. Paul Saints, another minor league baseball team in St. Paul, Minnesota.
• All three of his brothers, John, Joel and Brian-Doyle were in Scrooged with Bill.
• While filming Mad Dog And Glory, Bill broke co-star Robert DeNiro's nose.
• Bill really was hit by the groundhog...twice, while filming Groundhog Day.
• Bill was a student at Regis College in Denver, planning to take the pre-med route. But when he was arrested for possession of marijuana, he dropped out.
• When he dropped out of college, Bill may have made one of the best career moves by joining the National Lampoon Radio Hour with fellow comedians Dan Aykroyd, the late Gilda Radner and John Belushi.
• Bill split from the National Lampoon Hour group when they joined Saturday Night Live and went to the Howard Cosell Variety Hour. The show was soon canceled and he hooked back up with his friends on SNL.
